Manjushri

Manjushri is a male Bodhisattva.

He, with his body, similar in color to the golden orange, sits with is legs crossed in the vajra position.

With his right hand holds a flaming sword, symbol of wisdom. The sword is said to cut the ignorance and therefore all mistaken conceptions of reality.

In his left hand, close to the heart, he is holding a blue Uptala flower inside which there is the Sutra of the Perfection of Wisdom, the Sutra of Prajnaparamita.

He wears the clothes of a Bodhisattva, jewelry and a big white mala.

Manjushri, whose name means “Glorious, Sweet”, resides in the Field of Buddha called Vimala, a beautiful Pure Land.

He represent the Infinite Wisdom of all Buddhas. Such profound and inner wisdom is characterized by a compassionate motivation and behavior directed towards all sentient beings.

Manjushri, Avalokitesvara and Vajrapani together form the triad of “Protectors of the Three Families”, personifying respectively the three great virtues of the bodhisattava: wisdom, compassion and power.
